Welcome to Top Comments, where we recognize comments made in the past 24 hours that for whatever reason are just too good to let fall by the wayside.

If you find a notable comment during the day click the date/time stamp to get a direct link, copy it then send to topcomments at gmail dot com by 9:30PM Eastern! Don't forget to include your screen name so we can credit you! Anyone can submit comments- if you didn't do so today, please do it tomorrow- emeraldmaiden will thank you!

You can mine for comments no matter what candidate you support. As a matter of fact, it shows how much you love your candidate if nominate a comment. Send those goodies in today!

So, anything happen in the news lately? I heard something about this minister making a couple of speeches, and everybody seems to be politely expressing an opinion about it. Something to do with whites and blacks and colors? I had no idea...

... that laundry was such a hot topic on the political circuit these days! Finally, my chance to do a Top Comments on a relevant issue, instead of something frivolous and totally unrelated to Teh Primary Warz!! So, welcome to the fascinating world of Brillig's Laundry Routine. Let me know if it resembles yours or is so totally foreign it must be anti-'Merkan :-).

Casa Brillig usually waits until we are running low on socks and unmentionables, then wash it all over a several day period. We can do this thanks to the the luxury of a frontloading, high-efficiency washer and a dryer stacked over it right off the kitchen. I traded a second bath for it in the Great Kitchen Renovation several years ago, figuring that we needed a second full bath maybe 3 times a year, but laundry is eternal.

Yesterday I was staring at a huge, huuuuge pile of dirty laundry on the floor of our guest room. No organization at all, just a large intimidating pile staring at me as if to say "Go ahead... sort me." Now I don't know how you divide your basketfuls, but I have whites (that get bleached), lights, colors, reds, blacks (yes, we have that much black :-), polarfleece, and linens. Twenty minutes later, I had seven piles.

What gets done first is carefully decided based on one criteria: What do We Need Most? Yeah, socks-n-undies nearly always win. From there, it's a matter of which basket gets grabbed next :-). My favorite detergent is the concentrated Method detergent for HE washers. I love that it's small-volume, comes in a free-n-clear formula, and actually gets my clothes clean. I'm not usually a fabric softener lover, but Seventh Generation's Lavender-scented formula smells great, and I can cut it 1:2 and still notice it.

Learned my lesson the hard way, so now I fold all laundry but socks before it comes back upstairs. Mr. Brillig, who thankfully is busy locked in the attic book-writing and is mercifully unfortunately unable to comment here, would tell you I am a bit ..umm... retentive when it comes to folding laundry. I didn't believe him until I refolded an entire basket of shirts just to get them the way I must have or risk going postal prefer. Let's just say that I don't like my shirts with creases down the front middle, and move along, shall we? :-)

This is where it all goes downhill. Once I get the clean, folded laundry upstairs (a) I wait for Casa Brillig to put it away; (b) Casa Brillig waits for the Laundry Fairy to do it; and (c) I despise sorting socks. You know what happens now, I'm sure... we rifle though the baskets for stuff each morning and swear we'll put stuff away and sort the socks "that evening".

If you've either seen our Laundry Fairy or don't mind folding socks, we live just north of Boston and have a guest room devoid of dirty laundry at the moment. Do drop by...

Now, on to Top Comments!! First up- submissions to the TC mailbox. Did you send in the snarkalicious comment you laughed yourself stupid over at lunch? You there, shrinking down in the far back row... did you click the timestamp to get a link on that well-researched and insightful comment, and send it to topcomments at gmail dot com? The more you nominate, the more sleep your TC diarists get. The more sleep we get, the better our diaries will be :-). We all want better diaries, right? The power is in your hands :-).

Oh yeah, the inbox:

From D Wreck:

palantir writes a new version of the 2nd amendment for fathers of daughters. Here's the thread that generated the comment.

From voila:

potownman's comment in today's C&J is an ode to life's wonder and beauty.

From JeffLieber:

When the comment (by Kate McKinnon) is more lucid then the diary that contains it, that's a top comment. (Diarist's note: WSComn also nominated this comment; and Jeff, I thought your diary was pretty good too)

From cerulean:

From Bubbanomics' plea to the community PLEASE don't mess with edscan's tags, I'm nominating this comment from Glacial Erratic, which set off a whole thread of movie spoilers. (you've been warned!)

From terrypinder:

Was hard to pick today---got into too many fights. Anyway, this one by aaraujo made me laugh.

From LucyMO:

In TocqueDeville's diary We're All Going to Die today, lifexpert made me laugh so hard I tripped and smacked my face on the door corner... giving myself a fantastic bloody nose. (Diarist's oblegal note: read comment at your own risk. We here at TC take no responsibility for injuries that may occur reading the links contained herein)

Denni knows exactly how to distract the press.

gchaucer2, tell us how you really feel.

I'd nominate just about everything Meteor Blades writes, but this in particular spoke to me this evening.

Last but not least, here's your Top Mojo! I used the mojo-to-excel formula carefully handed down from diarist to diarist over the ages sardonyx emailed me a while back :-).
